You live with one other person with disability in a shared home with your own bedroom, shared living spaces, and support available as part of everyday life. Support workers are available across the day and often overnight. This might suit if you:

  • enjoy being around other people, with similar interests
  • like shared routines
  • want support available throughout the day
  • have high support needs.

Our skills and experience

Our highly trained team support people with a wide range of needs, including physical, neurological, cognitive, and mental health needs, as well as more complex health support requirements such as High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA).

Life Without Barriers’ disability support staff and house supervisors are trained in safe transfers and mobility support; personal care, medication administration; mealtime management; assistive technology and equipment such as hoists where needed; and in implementing positive behaviour support (PBS) and allied health plans.

Every day we support people with different needs, from day-to-day support through to more coordinated support involving families, allied health professionals, and support coordinators.

Who you'd live with

Housemates

The current housemate is a 66-year-old lady who primarily communicates through gestures, facial expressions, and body language. She would be best suited to living with someone who is calm, warm-natured, and gentle in their approach. She enjoys listening to her favourite music, visiting quiet country cafés, and going out and about on the train. She also enjoys attending day programs and participating in community activities. Staff provide ongoing support to enable her to live life to the fullest and engage meaningfully in the activities she enjoys.
