About Heartstead

Heartstead exists to spark a race to the top in disability care quality in Australia.

Finding the right supported home is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make. Yet today, most SIL and SDA providers look identical online. The important differences – safety track record, culture, staff stability, and how people actually feel living there – are hard to see until it’s too late.

We make quality transparent, so you can choose with confidence. Heartstead brings together the signals that matter – regulator actions, media reports, and lived experience – so great providers can be recognised for doing the right thing, and serious issues can’t be quietly ignored. That transparency changes incentives: quality becomes the easiest way to earn trust and grow.

But “safe” isn’t enough. Fit matters. Even among strong providers, outcomes depend on the match: housemates, support style, routines, sensory environment, accessibility, and the small details that make a place feel right (or wrong) for a specific person. Historically, finding that fit has meant weeks or months of calls, tours, and fragmented information.

Our matching engine helps you narrow to the few homes most likely to suit. You can describe needs and preferences in plain English, and Heartstead translates that into a shortlist: combining hard requirements (funding, accessibility, location) with the human factors that are usually left out.

Why we built it

Heartstead founder Adam Crouch spent a decade as a senior executive in Silicon Valley, building and managing highly successful marketplaces like Poshmark and Redbubble. When searching for a SIL home for a family member with an intellectual disability, he ran into the same problem many families, participants, and support coordinators face: it was difficult to know who to trust, and there was no reliable way to compare quality.

Heartstead is our answer: a platform where trust is earned, and where the best providers are the ones most visible – because they’ve shown, in verifiable ways, that they deliver great care.
