Housemates

Wishart Street is a home shared by four long-term male residents aged between 49 and 77 years. They have built strong relationships with each other and within their local community. The residents enjoy active and meaningful lives, with opportunities to spend time with family and friends, participate in community activities, and pursue their individual interests.

Favourite activities include long walks, community outings, outdoor BBQs, listening to music, and tenpin bowling. Sport is a big part of life in the home, particularly AFL, with residents enjoying watching games together, supporting their teams, and discussing the latest football news and results.

Several residents also participate in Special Olympics programs and events, which provide opportunities to stay active, build confidence, develop friendships, and celebrate personal achievements.

The home follows an Active Support approach, with staff working alongside residents to encourage choice, participation, and skill development in everyday life. Residents are supported to be involved in household tasks, personal goals, and activities that are important to them.

The atmosphere in the home is relaxed, welcoming, and person-centred, with a strong focus on helping residents maintain their wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
