The Heart of the Home Open, Accessible and Easy to Navigate
- The open-plan living and dining area sits at the centre of the home, connecting naturally to the kitchen and outdoor spaces. The layout is generous and uncluttered, allowing multiple people to move comfortably without crowding, which is essential in a shared home where support routines happen throughout the day.
- The living area provides a free, clear circulation space that accommodates wheelchairs, hoists, and support equipment. Lighting is designed to be practical and even throughout, supporting safe movement and daily routines. Light switches and power points are positioned consistently at accessible heights, making the home easier to navigate.
The Participant Bedrooms Private, Secure and Designed for High Physical Support
- Both participant bedrooms are located on the entry level, as required by High Physical Support design standards. This means participants never need to navigate stairs or complex routes to access their private spaces, making daily routines simpler and safer.
- Each bedroom is generously proportioned, with ample space for mobility aids, hoists, and support equipment. The design allows for ceiling hoists in bedrooms, with structural provisions built in to support constant-charge ceiling hoists capable of moving across the bed and down the bed. This infrastructure is essential for safe transfers and personal care routines.
- The bedrooms are private, comfortable spaces where participants can rest, sleep, and have control over their own environment. The design ensures dignity and privacy while still allowing support workers to provide the level of care that High Physical Support participants need.
