About the Supported Independent Living (SIL) Provider - Aruma

Aruma is one of Australia’s largest not-for-profit disability service providers. We support 5,500 adults and children with a disability under the NDIS. Upholding their human rights – and the human rights of all people with a disability – is at the centre of all we do. We provide a range of disability supports. This includes working with people with a disability to make sure they have a suitable home, support with everyday tasks both inside and outside their home, and employment, to name a few.

The SDA has;

Mix of male and female staff. Training/expertise includes - Epilepsy, Manual Handling, Behavior Of Concerns, Complex Communication, understand NDIS goals & support from allied health teams, bowel management plans, dietary requirements. 24 hr hour support accommodation with a Sleepover Night Support. 6.30 am – 10 am - 3 staff, 3.00 pm – 8.00 pm shifts - 3 staff, Weekends staff start from 7 am – 8 pm - 3 staff, 3 pm -10 pm Sleepover component x 1 staff overnight

About the SDA:

The property is situated on a large residential block, which is  located in a quiet area of town within walking distance to a corner shop and the main street. Monthly events held in town include market stalls, live music at the local hotels. A sporting facility is located within a 10 minute walk where football games, netball matches and cricket matches are held. The medical facilities in town includes a newly built hospital, a chemist and 1 medical practice. A local taxi service is also available.

Current residents are interested in: Family contact, Dining out, Sports, Watching movies, Shopping, Horse riding, Arts and Crafts, Going to the library.

Things you need to know

The applicant must be aged 18 years or over. This is an enrolled Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) property. Therefore, the applicant would need to be eligible for the appropriate SDA level of funding in the applicant’s NDIS plan. The applicant will need to be able to pay rent and utilities. The applicant or their representative will need to establish a residential agreement.
