It is close to the Northland Shopping Centre, Preston Market, the High Street food quarter, Sydney Road shops and restaurants. The region contains popular recreation areas and facilities, including Edwardes Lake and the Reservoir Leisure Centre. Medical needs are well taken care of with Sudhakaran Medical Clinic less than a kilometre and further afield is the well renown Austin Hospital.

Bedroom 1 is located at the very front of the home overlooking the front garden. It is also close to the fully accessible bathroom conveniently located at the front also. The room features built in wardrobes and laminate timber floor coverings. There is also air conditioning and heating in the vacant room to keep the resident comfortable.

Who lives in this house?

The current residents are male and female. They are aged in their 50 s to 70 s. Their hobbies and interests include watching television, sitting quietly with others for conversation and playing ball games. Most residents use verbal communication with one resident using augmented communication. Support needs vary from resident to resident, from prompting and supervision to full assistance with personal hygiene and domestic related tasks. The current resident group are aging, thus experiencing some of the common health conditions which require additional assistance such as high blood pressure and cholesterol management. Whilst all residents are ambulant with mobility, one resident is assisted with a four-wheelie walker. Typically, the current resident group are well settled, having resided together for quite an extended time. One resident may go into other bedrooms without consent and another resident may experience anxious moments. It is preferred that the new housemate is not loud or displays any behaviours of concern than may mentally or physically impact on the current resident group.

The applicant must be 18 years old or over. This is an enrolled Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) property. Therefore, the applicant would need to be eligible for the appropriate SDA level of funding in the applicant's NDIS plan. The applicant will need to be able to pay for rent and utilities.
